I’m proud to continue serving on the Energy and Commerce (E&C) Committee and the Science, Space, and Technology (SST) Committee—two critical panels that shape the future of American energy, innovation, and economic growth.
This year, I was honored to be named Chairman of the Energy Subcommittee on SST and Vice Chairman of the Energy Subcommittee on E&C. Additionally, I will serve as Vice Chair of the House Energy Action Team (HEAT) under the Republican Study Committee. These roles put me in a prime position to fight for Southeast Texas, push back against radical anti-energy policies, and unleash the full potential of American energy production.
Make no mistake—energy security is national security. Under President Trump's first administration, we were energy dominant. Gas prices were low, our grid was reliable, and we weren’t dependent on foreign adversaries to meet our needs. Then Biden came in, waged war on American oil and gas, and handed the keys to our energy future over to OPEC, China, and Russia. That ends now with President Trump.
On these committees, I’ll be working to: ✅ Cut red tape and streamline permitting for new energy projects ✅ Expand domestic production of oil, gas, and nuclear ✅ Stop Biden’s reckless anti-energy agenda and reverse burdensome regulations ✅ Promote American innovation in emerging technologies like hydrogen and carbon capture ✅ Ensure grid reliability so Texans never have to worry about blackouts or skyrocketing energy costs
Texas leads the nation in energy production, and we’re just getting started. With President Trump back in office and a Republican-controlled Congress, we are taking decisive action to restore American energy dominance and put power back in the hands of hardworking Americans—not bureaucrats in Washington.
As always, I’ll keep you updated on the battles ahead. Stay tuned—there’s a lot of work to do, and we’re just getting started!

Last week, President Trump took a major step in protecting civil rights and restoring true equality under the law. He signed an executive order eliminating radical DEI mandates in federal contracting and hiring—finally putting an end to race and identity-based discrimination in government.
This order ensures that federal hiring, promotions, and contracting will be based on merit, hard work, and individual excellence—not DEI-driven quotas or preferences. It also streamlines the federal contracting process, reducing costs and bureaucracy while requiring all federal contractors to follow civil rights laws—without exception. For too long, radical DEI policies have fueled division, weakened our institutions, and undermined the very foundation of equal opportunity. Billions of taxpayer dollars have been wasted on programs that don’t reduce bias but instead create hostility, division, and lower standards.
By revoking these dangerous policies, President Trump is delivering on his promise to restore a colorblind, competence-based workforce, protect equal opportunity, and put an end to discriminatory admissions policies in our schools.
The American dream isn’t about checking a box—it’s about hard work, grit, and determination. And under this administration, we are making sure every American has the opportunity to succeed based on merit, not mandates.

In just one week, President Trump delivered on his promise—securing the border and restoring America’s sovereignty—something Joe Biden didn’t even bother to attempt.
With President Trump and Border Czar Tom Homan at the helm, our nation is in strong, capable hands. They’ve outlined a clear plan to rid our communities of unvetted illegal aliens, focusing on the deportation of criminals, terrorists, drug dealers, and human traffickers. America’s safety comes first, and we should never accept unvetted illegal aliens roaming our streets.
Since January 23, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested over 9,000 of the most dangerous illegal offenders residing in the United States. Deportations for these criminals have already begun. Remarkably, 97% of the deportations underway involve individuals who had removal orders issued by the Biden administration but were never acted upon.
The illegals that ICE has been targeting are gang members, fentanyl dealers, rapists, attempted murderers, known terrorists, and those who have committed crimes in the United States.
Since taking office, President Trump has: - Declared a national emergency at the southern border.
- Deployed additional personnel to the border, including members of the Armed Forces and the National Guard.
- Restarted border wall construction.
- Designated international cartels and other criminal organizations – such as MS-13 and Tren de Aragua – as Foreign Terrorist Organizations and Specially Designated Global Terrorists.
- Suspended the entry of aliens into the U.S.
- Called for enhanced vetting and screening of aliens.
- Required the identification of countries that warrant a partial or full suspension on the admission of nationals.
- Restarted the detention and removal of aliens who are in violation of Federal law.
- Resumed the Migrant Protection Protocols – also known as “Remain in Mexico” – as soon as practicable.
- Ended the use of the CBP One app.
- Terminated all categorical parole programs, such as the “Processes for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans,” that are contrary to President Trump’s immigration agenda.
- Ended automatic citizenship for children of illegal aliens.
- Paused the operation of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP).
- Ended catch-and-release policies.
- Revoked Biden’s disastrous executive actions that essentially opened our southern border.
President Trump signed a memorandum to detain the most dangerous illegal criminal aliens in Guantanamo Bay. It directs the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Homeland Security to expand the Migrant Operations Center at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay to full capacity to provide extra detention space for high priority criminal illegal aliens unlawfully present in the United States.

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of celebrating the 180th Anniversary of the Galveston Regional Chamber of Commerce—the oldest chamber in Texas and a true pillar of our community. Galveston is blessed to have such a strong institution that continues to drive economic growth and opportunity for our region.
I was also honored to present certificates to the outstanding leaders, businesses, and volunteers recognized as the 2024 honorees. These folks exemplify the spirit of service and dedication that makes Galveston thrive.
In December, I had the distinct honor of delivering a speech on the House Floor to commemorate 200 years of Dickinson. This week, Team Weber proudly presented that speech to the city during a council meeting. Dickinson has played a vital role in the success of Southeast Texas, and I’m proud to represent such a hardworking and resilient community. Here’s to many more years of progress, pride, and the enduring Texas spirit. Happy anniversary, Dickinson!
We also had the opportunity to present a Congressional Record to Ray Holbrook's family in recognition of his incredible service. Ray was a pillar of strength, integrity, and leadership in Galveston County. As the longest-serving county judge from 1967 to 1995, he dedicated nearly three decades to improving the lives of those around him—and he left a lasting legacy.
From honoring our past to celebrating our future, this weekend was a powerful reminder of the values that make Southeast Texas great—hard work, service, and an unwavering commitment to our communities.
