 Brokering Peace

Peace Summit

President Trump is committed to promoting peace worldwide. He is renewing his efforts to bring an end to the destructive conflict in Ukraine. Last week, President Trump and President Putin met in Anchorage, Alaska, to recommence peace talks and find some common ground between Russia and Ukraine, in hopes of reaching a full peace deal.

Building on President Trump’s face-to-face meeting with the Russian leader, the President convened a summit of European leaders at the White House on Monday. Among the delegation was the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who attended on his own volition, bringing the desire and understanding the necessity of finding a peaceful conclusion to the conflict.

President Trump and his advisors brought a swift and decisive conclusion to the bellicose ambitions of Israel's regional adversary, Iran. Additionally, President Trump has resolved conflicts between Serbia and Kosovo, as well as Cambodia and Thailand. He is truly proving to the world that he IS the President of PEACE.

Balanced Trade

Thumbs Up

For decades, unfair trading practices have led to the offshoring of our manufacturing base, undermining our critical supply chains, and, most importantly, forfeiting American Jobs. As of August 18, 2025, President Trump has reached fair and reciprocal trade deals with forty countries, representing half of imports to the United States.

The Trump Administration brokered a revolutionary trade deal with the European Union (EU), bringing balance to two of the world’s largest economies. The European Union has agreed to remove all tariffs on imports from the United States, while the EU now has to pay fifteen percent tariffs on all goods entering the US. The EU has pledged to invest $2.25 trillion into the American economy.

Additionally, Thailand and Vietnam, two major producers of cheap goods and exporters of Chinese goods, have been slapped with twenty percent and nineteen percent tariffs. Similar to the case of the trade deal reached with the EU, both Thailand and Vietnam have agreed to drop all tariffs on American goods imported into their countries. Furthermore, Indonesia decided to buy $25 billion in American goods. Both countries also agreed to a forty percent tariff on the transshipment of Chinese goods, further weakening China’s position of unfair and unbalanced trade with the United States.

For now, China is the remaining holdout to come to the negotiating table. However, their position is unsustainable as they are dumping cheap goods at a loss and are unable to circumvent the tariffs placed on the transshipments of their goods. Now that trade deals have been brokered with the United States’ major trading partners, companies will begin to reorganize, bringing manufacturing and employment opportunities back to our country. Certainly, these major trade deals are wins for the American people and represent the dominance of the American market and the dependency these countries have on selling their products in the United States. We must continue to reassert our global trade dominance, reaching reciprocal agreements that offer balance and stability to the American economy and trade position.

Border Update

Border Patrol on Horses

President Trump’s border agenda is continuing to keep America SAFE!  In July, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) documented record lows of illegal border crossings. This is the third time this year that our Southern border has experienced significant reductions in illegal border crossings. Below are the preliminary records set by DHS in July:

  • Lowest Nationwide Encounters Ever: 24,630—down 2.4% from June and nearly 90% lower than the monthly average under the last administration.
  • Lowest Border Patrol Apprehensions Nationwide: 6,177—shattering June’s all-time low.
  • Lowest Southwest Border Apprehensions: 4,598, nearly 500 fewer than the daily average under the last administration, which averaged 5,110 apprehensions per day from Feb 2021–Dec 2024.
  • Lowest Daily Apprehension Average: Just 148 per day—that’s lower than the average rate of 152 apprehensions every two hours under Biden last July.
  • Lowest Single-Day Apprehensions in History: 88 at the Southwest Border, 116 nationwide on July 20.

Thank you to President Trump, Secretary Noem, and the brave men and women who have dedicated their careers to protecting our borders and making America safe again.

Survey Question of the Week

New Map

Many of you have been following the Texas Legislature's work on redrawing our Congressional districts. As you know, this process is handled at the state level, not in Washington. I support the legislature's efforts, because I believe our maps should reflect the will of Texas voters. President Trump received tremendous support across our state, and that strength should be represented fairly in our Congressional districts.

Around the District

District 8/22

This week, Team Weber traveled across the district, attending ribbon cuttings and events. The district celebrated the Santa Fe Lions Club's 65th anniversary, presenting a certificate for their dedication to their service and advocacy in the community.

The Team celebrated the ribbon-cutting of two new schools in the district. The opening of Heartland Elementary School and Heritage Middle School. The Vidor Hope House hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their reentry program for women, which focuses on career help and personal development.

In Brazoria, Team Weber attended a Mix and Mingle at the Brazoria Library, hosted by the Brazoria Chamber of Commerce. Tom West spoke about new items and services available to library cardholders in the Brazoria County Library System. Mr. West shared the vast collection of books and online resources available to members, as well as automated machinery that saved Brazoria County over $1 million last year!
