Energy and Water Appropriations Passes the House Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Randy Weber (TX-14) announced that the House of Representatives passed H.R. 4553, the FY2026 Energy and Water Development and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. This legislation contains major victories for TX-14! The following priorities were included in the bill: $9,061,000 to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) construction account to deepen the Sabine-Neches Waterway (SNWW) from its current 40-foot depth to its congressionally authorized depth of 48 feet, as authorized in WRDA 2014. The SNWW is one of the most relevant and vital federal projects of our time, given the geopolitical, national security, environmental, and defense challenges it uniquely addresses for America and its allies. Increasing speed of deployment and throughput capacity of the Sabine-Neches Waterway’s unique blend of heavy military tonnage and clean LNG will help our nation continue to lead the world’s pursuit of peace and stability. $5,000,000 to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) investigations account, for the pre-construction engineering and design for the Texas Coastal Project (locally known as the Ike Dike). This funding would support an integrated and comprehensive coastal resiliency strategy, addressing immediate and long-term coastal risk reduction and ecosystem restoration needs across the entire Texas coast. Estimates suggest that the project would result in $2.31 billion in annual economic savings from reducing flood damage.  This project would also result in over 6,000 acres of improved coastal habitat, a significant component in reducing the impacts of storm surges. Report Language in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ (USACE) investigations account for advancing state funds to the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW) Brazos River Floodgates project.  This funding would be used for the construction of modern floodgates along the GIWW, bolstering the resiliency of our coastline and protecting our communities from storm surges and other natural disasters.  Additionally, this project would protect a myriad of our nation’s most essential sectors, such as energy, agriculture, and defense, all of which play a crucial role in strengthening our national security and protecting our way of life. “This bill contains critical wins for Texas-14,” said Rep. Weber, “and I am proud to have fought for the priorities that were included in the bill to secure investments in energy dominance, storm resiliency, and strengthening our critical infrastructure.”

Legislative Spotlight - Stop Fentanyl Act

text

Drug addiction has devastated communities across our country for decades. The rate of addiction and overdoses has skyrocketed with the spread of fentanyl over the last several years. Fentanyl is a highly potent synthetic opioid, and even the smallest dose can trigger an overdose. Our adversaries, mainly China, have weaponized this drug to terrorize our communities and weaken the United States by facilitating the flow of this deadly drug into our country.

Biden’s reckless open border policies allowed thousands, if not millions, of pounds of fentanyl to flow through the Southern Border. The failure to close the border and restrict the flow of fentanyl enriched Mexican Drug cartels and Chinese manufacturers of the synthetic drug, while destroying the cohesion and health of American society. Luckily, strong leadership has returned to the White House once again! President Trump’s border policies have greatly reduced the flow of fentanyl into our country, and Congress is also taking steps to punish Chinese producers and stop the flow of fentanyl into our communities.

On Tuesday, with my support, the House of Representatives passed H.R. 747, the Stop Fentanyl Act of 2025. This bill imposes sanctions against Chinese manufacturers and distributors of fentanyl. The bill also increases the reporting of international trade with China, providing greater oversight of Chinese products entering the United States. It is time Congress stands with the American people to protect Americans from these deadly drugs. China’s transgressions will no longer go unpunished.  As your voice in Congress, I will continue to push for policies that counter our adversaries and protect the lives of innocent Americans.

Trump Capsizes Cartels

Marco and Donald

This week, President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio authorized a series of strikes on cartel vessels conducting operations off the Venezuelan coast.  The strikes, carried out by the Marine Corps, resulted in the death of 11 members of Tren de Aragua, a deadly cartel President Trump deemed a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO) in February.  I applaud President Trump’s no-nonsense approach to eliminating this threat.  Drug cartels have plagued our society with extreme levels of violence and corruption, and it is high time we did something about it.

Around the District

09-05-2025

Another action-packed week in TX-14! Last Friday, I stopped in at the Baskem polymer plant in Oyster Creek. Baskem produces safe plastic and polymer products, serving the construction, agribusiness, and healthcare industries, and employs hardworking Texans.

On Tuesday, members of my team attended a ribbon-cutting for The Cannon in Angleton. The Cannon is a new office building with an innovative approach, offering a flexible and affordable workplace that features private offices, coworking spaces, meeting rooms, and professional resources.

Team Weber moved all across the District on Wednesday. In Dickinson, the team attended “Wake Up Wednesday” to celebrate the work of community service members who help the underserved. The BayTran Drainage Committee met to discuss their work in the community to reduce flooding and improve infrastructure to allow for more efficient drainage. We also celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Big Brothers Big Sisters Gulf Coast. Indispensable to the community, Big Brothers Big Sisters provides one-on-one mentorship for children, offering them guidance and support for a brighter future.

The Galveston Regional Chamber hosted Good Morning Galveston, a meeting of chamber members held on the Thursday of every month to promote chamber events, foster business connections, and highlight business growth in the area.
