Telephone Townhall Wrap-Up This past Monday, I hosted a live telephone townhall that connected with more than 6,300 folks across Texas’ 14th District. These calls matter because they give me the chance to hear directly from you! One moment that stood out was speaking with Tom, a Vietnam veteran in Port Arthur, who shared the challenges he’s faced with the VA. After the call, my office followed up first thing the next morning, and our casework team is now working directly with Tom to help him get the answers and support he deserves. Reminder, YOUR offices work for YOU. Please don’t hesitate to reach us at (202) 225-2831. We also asked participants where they stand on key issues:77% support President Trump enforcing immigration laws that previous administrations failed to enforce.68% said they have noticed lower gas prices at the pump under President Trump’s renewed push for American energy dominance.54% said they feel more confident about the direction of the economy today than in recent years. Thank you to everyone who joined the call and took the time to share your questions!

House Energy and Commerce Visits Texas' 14th District

E&C

Last week, I welcomed members of the House Energy & Commerce Committee to Texas’ 14th District for an on-the-ground visit to key energy infrastructure that powers our state and strengthens America’s energy security. We toured Freeport LNG, one of the nation’s largest liquefied natural gas export facilities, where we discussed energy production, exports, and the role these resources play in jobs and national strategy.

At Freeport LNG, we reaffirmed our support for responsible energy development that benefits workers, families, and our allies around the world. Our delegation showed why expanding LNG exports is not only good for America’s economy but also an important tool to reduce global reliance on hostile energy sources: a strategic advantage in the face of foreign adversaries.

While critics claim increased exports could impact domestic energy costs, we underscored the importance of expanding American energy production and export capacity in a balanced way that keeps our markets strong and our consumers protected.

We also visited the Bryan Mound Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) site, a critical asset in buffering energy shocks and stabilizing supply in times of crisis. These facilities are part of why Texas remains at the center of the nation’s energy future. As you may know, there are only four SPR sites in the United States, and two of them are in TX-14.

These site visits gave my colleagues a clearer understanding of the infrastructure, workforce, and communities behind America’s energy system, and highlight how TX-14 is at the very core of our energy production and capabilities nationwide. It helps ensure decisions in Washington are informed by the very people of Texas’ 14th who are on the ground everyday.

Survey Question of the Week

healthcare

Over a decade ago, Democrats created a health care program without proper guardrails. The result has been a system vulnerable to fraud, improper enrollment, and abuse which has resulted in driving up costs for taxpayers while leaving families with fewer choices and higher premiums. Too often, resources meant for seniors, the disabled, and working families are diverted away from the people these programs were designed to serve.

Congress is now debating reforms to restore accountability, strengthen eligibility verification, and protect Medicare and Medicaid for those who truly need them, all while cracking down on fraud and waste that cost taxpayers billions each year.

The Genesis Mission: Prioritizing American Science and Technology Leadership

Genesis Mission

This week, I delivered opening remarks at a critical House Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing, “The Genesis Mission: Prioritizing American Science and Technology Leadership.” These efforts are about restoring American scientific leadership and making sure the United States (not China) sets the pace for next-generation technologies.

In November, the Department of Energy announced a long-overdue restructuring that finally brings order and accountability to the Department. Under the previous administration, responsibilities were scattered across mismatched offices, slowing progress, wasting taxpayer dollars, and burying innovation under layers of bureaucracy. This new structure fixes that. Offices focused on applied energy technologies are now consolidated under the Under Secretary for Energy, while the Office of Science can focus squarely on discovery and research. For the first time in years, DOE’s leadership structure actually makes sense.

Just as important, the creation of two new offices, the Office of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum and the Office of Fusion, makes clear that America is serious about winning the future. These technologies are not abstract ideas; they are central to our national security, economic strength, and global competitiveness. The United States is done playing catch-up. We are leading again.

This reorganization also breaks down barriers that have slowed innovation for far too long. By aligning scientific discovery with technology commercialization, DOE is accelerating the path from the lab to real-world deployment. That means faster breakthroughs, stronger industry partnerships, and better results for the American taxpayer.

All of this comes at a pivotal moment. President Trump’s Genesis Mission is a bold national effort to harness artificial intelligence to transform how America conducts scientific research. By bringing together our National Laboratories, world-class supercomputers, and unmatched scientific data, this mission will accelerate breakthroughs in fusion energy, biotechnology, quantum science, nuclear research, space exploration, and advanced manufacturing.

America must dominate in artificial intelligence and the technologies that will define the next century. Under President Trump’s leadership, we are reversing the failures of the past and putting our country back on a winning track. I will continue pressing to ensure the Genesis Mission is fully supported, fully resourced, and fully aligned with America’s national interests because when it comes to this race, second place is not an option.

Watch my opening remarks here.

Around the District

District

Another week in Texas’ 14th District! Team Weber stayed busy across the Gulf Coast by meeting with those who keep our region moving forward. From port advocacy discussions on Pelican Island and the Galveston Channel to chamber events in Bridge City, Santa Fe, Orange, Nederland, and Port Arthur, these conversations help ensure D.C. hears directly from the people we represent.

We also appreciated the opportunity to join industry and community partners at the AMOCO Partner Holiday Luncheon, the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension annual lunch with local agents, and to recognize honorable public service during Houston Regional Office Assistant Director Emile Dufrene’s retirement. Every stop reinforces the importance of our strong communities throughout Texas’ 14th District!
