Our bill installs commonsense work requirements for non-disabled, childless adults, and gives states the tools to clean up their rolls and eliminate fraud. Too many liberal states have prioritized benefits for illegal immigrants over hard-working Americans. We’re putting an end to that. Our reforms ensure that Medicaid remains strong and sustainable for those it was actually meant to serve. 1.4 million illegal immigrants are receiving Medicaid. 4.8 million able-bodied adults who choose not to work are on Medicaid. 1.2 million ineligible recipients are still receiving benefits. Medicaid was never meant to be a free-for-all. It was designed to help the truly vulnerable — not illegal immigrants, not those refusing to work, and certainly not those who don’t qualify. And when it comes to energy, this bill takes concrete steps to refill our depleted Strategic Petroleum Reserve, streamline permitting for pipelines, and cut red tape that has held American energy producers back for far too long. This is the kind of conservative, solutions-focused leadership Americans are demanding—and I’m proud to be delivering it alongside my Republican colleagues. As President Trump once said, it’s time for a revolution of common sense—and that’s exactly what this bill represents. Rest assured, I’ll keep fighting to protect your tax dollars, unleash American energy, and put our country back on the path to prosperity. We still have a long way to go to get this bill over the finish line, but I appreciate everyone who has called in or written to YOUR office (We WORK for YOU) to voice your opinions on this bill and raise concerns or support. We appreciate hearing from each of you.

The One, Big, Beautiful Bill

One, Big, Beautiful Bill

I proudly serve on the Energy and Commerce Committee and this week we had a 27 hour mark-up on what President Trump calls “the One, Big, Beautiful Bill. We took decisive action to rein in reckless spending, end burdensome regulations, and refocus federal programs on the Americans who need them most. I was proud to help advance a comprehensive reconciliation package through the Energy and Commerce Committee that strengthens Medicaid, restores American energy dominance, and reduces over $880 billion in wasteful, misguided spending.

The Biden Administration’s bloated budgets and radical Green New Deal-style mandates have made life harder for working Americans. This package tackles those failures head-on. We eliminate costly electric vehicle (EV) mandates that drive up prices and limit consumer choice, and we put a stop to federal overreach that’s stifled domestic energy production.

Key Wins in This Legislation:

  • $172 billion in savings by repealing Biden-era regulations that have hurt job creators and middle-class families.

  • $100 billion in additional savings by ending EV mandates tied to failed emissions standards.

  • $88 billion in new revenue through a responsible reauthorization of the FCC’s spectrum authority, all while protecting national security.

  • A strong investment in AI innovation, with smart guardrails to ensure America—not China—leads in 21st-century technology.

Let me be crystal clear:

Despite the lies and misinformation being pushed by the Left, we are NOT touching Medicaid for those who are rightfully on it.

We’re also restoring integrity to the Medicaid program, which was designed to serve expectant mothers, children, Americans with disabilities, and the elderly—not able-bodied adults who choose not to work.

Survey Question of the Week

Comey

Yesterday, former FBI Director James Comey posted a photo on social media that many Americans found deeply disturbing.

This isn’t just reckless. It’s a dangerous escalation in the Left’s ongoing assault on our democracy, our institutions, and the rule of law. For a former FBI Director—someone who once swore to uphold the Constitution—to make such an inflammatory post is beyond the pale. We’ve seen enough corruption, cover-ups, and abuse of power from unelected bureaucrats like Comey. It’s time to hold them accountable.

Do you believe James Comey should be investigated for inciting political violence and held to the fullest extent of the law?

Codifying President Trump's Agenda

EO

This week, I proudly joined my colleagues in sending a clear message to Speaker Johnson: the work President Trump has begun to restore America must be made permanent. The executive orders he's signed are a strong start—cutting waste, shrinking government, and putting America First—but unless Congress steps up and locks these wins into law, a future liberal administration could undo it all overnight. I joined this letter because the American people didn’t send us to Washington for temporary victories—they sent us to deliver lasting change. It's time to get it done.

Here is a draft of the letter:

Dear Speaker Johnson,

On January 20, 2025, President Trump returned to office and immediately went to work ushering in a new golden age for the United States. In pursuit of this mission, he has signed numerous executive orders to rein in spending, shrink bloated bureaucracies, end the culture war launched by the Left, and restore accountability to Washington.

But let’s be clear: unless Congress acts, many of these victories are at risk. A future Democrat president could erase them with the stroke of a pen. We cannot let that happen. If we want this new era of American greatness to last, we must codify the President’s actions into law.

We appreciate your leadership in restoring fiscal sanity, with the 119th Congress advancing a significant reconciliation package at record pace. That same urgency must now be applied to securing the President’s legacy and the legacy of this Congress.

House Republicans have already introduced numerous bills to enshrine the Trump agenda—from securing the border to reigning in the excesses of the administrative state. We urge you to make this legislation a top priority. If there is anything we can do to move this forward, we stand ready.

The American people sent us here to deliver lasting change—not temporary relief. It is Congress’s duty to work hand in hand with President Trump to ensure the agenda the American people elected this President and this Congress to enact becomes the law of the land. Now is the time to act.

The State Border Security Assistance Act

tx border

This week, I proudly joined Senator John Cornyn, Senator Ted Cruz, and my House colleague Congressman Chip Roy in supporting the State Border Security Assistance Act — legislation to finally reimburse the State of Texas for the over $11 billion Texas taxpayers were forced to spend on border security due to the Biden administration’s utter failure to enforce our immigration laws.

Let’s be clear: Texas stepped up when Washington stood down. For four long years, Governor Greg Abbott and Texas law enforcement bore the burden of a federal government that all but surrendered our southern border. Under Operation Lone Star, our state took unprecedented action to protect Texans from the flood of illegal crossings, deadly fentanyl, cartel violence, and lawlessness unleashed by Joe Biden and Alejandro Mayorkas’s open-border agenda.

Enough is enough. Texas deserves to be repaid for doing the job the federal government refused to do. This bill will reimburse the costs of border wall construction, surveillance, and the apprehension and detention of those entering our country illegally. It ensures the funds go to states like ours that actually defended American sovereignty — and it responsibly sunsets at the end of President Trump’s next administration, with unused funds returned to the Treasury to reduce our national debt.

Thanks to strong leadership from President Trump, Secretary Kristi Noem, Border Czar Tom Homan, and Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks, we are finally restoring law and order at our border. As your voice in Congress, I will continue fighting tooth and nail to undo the damage the Biden administration did, restore the rule of law, and ensure that Texas taxpayers are not punished for doing what Washington should have done in the first place.

Texas led — and Washington must now pay its overdue bill.

Around the District & DC

Around the District

Yesterday, I had the pleasure of meeting two incredible finalists from Clear Falls High School who are representing TX-14 in the 2025 National American Rocketry Challenge. These young men are proof that the future of STEM is alive and well—especially here in Texas’ 14th Congressional District!

The American Rocketry Challenge is the largest student rocketry competition in the world, with a record 1,001 teams from 46 states and D.C. competing in its 23rd year. To make it to the finals, students had to design, build, and launch a rocket capable of carrying two raw eggs to exactly 790 feet, stay airborne for 41 to 44 seconds, and return safely—no easy task!

This week, during National Police Week, Team Weber had the solemn honor of attending two powerful ceremonies—one in Beaumont for the Beaumont Police Department's Police Memorial, and another in Galveston for the Galveston County Peace Officers Memorial Day event.

Both ceremonies paid tribute to the brave men and women in blue who gave their lives in the line of duty. These heroes stood between us and danger, defending our families, our communities, and our way of life. We owe them—and their families—a debt that can never be repaid. We will never forget their sacrifice.

We also joined the celebration of the Odyssey Academy Underwater Robotics Team for their outstanding accomplishments—these bright minds are doing big things, and they represent the very best of our future workforce.

Finally, Team Weber stopped by the Orange County Veterans Stand Down, where veterans were connected with valuable services and community resources. Our veterans have served us—now it's our duty to make sure they get the support they’ve earned.
