WRDA Wins for Texas' 14th District

WRDA Wins

Here on the Texas Gulf Coast, our waterways, ports, and flood protection systems are the backbone of our communities and the engines of our economy, helping America lead and dominate on every front. That is exactly why I voted YES on the Water Resources Development Act of 2026 (WRDA), which passed the U.S. House of Representatives this week.

This legislation delivers three major wins for Texas’ 14th District! It strengthens our ports and waterways, improves critical infrastructure, and helps protect our communities from flooding for the hardworking folks of the Texas Gulf Coast.

Here is what Texas’ 14th District is getting:

  • Sabine-Neches Waterway: Directs the Secretary of the Army to expedite the review and coordination of the Sabine-Neches Waterway Channel Improvement Project feasibility study, helping prevent unnecessary delays for this critical waterway.
  • Brazoria and Galveston Counties: Authorizes $5 million for water infrastructure projects, including improvements to water supply systems.
  • City of Kemah: Authorizes $5 million for water and wastewater infrastructure, including stormwater management, in Kemah.

These provisions represent $10 million in authorized water infrastructure projects across our region, helping us move forward and continue powering the future of Texas and America. The legislation now heads to the U.S. Senate for further consideration.

PACK Act Advances Through Full House Energy & Commerce Committee

When I introduced the bipartisan Packaging and Claims Knowledge (PACK) Act, I knew it was something the American people and businesses needed. This week, we reached another major milestone! The full House Energy and Commerce Committee passed my legislation by a vote of 25-18, clearing the way for consideration by the full House of Representatives.

In less than two months, we've gone from a Subcommittee hearing to passing the Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade Subcommittee to clearing the full Energy and Commerce Committee. Three major milestones, and we're not slowing down!

Families should not need a law degree to figure out where the garbage goes, what bin, and manufacturers shouldn’t need 50 different rule books to figure out how to label their products, that’s just downright unproductive.

The PACK Act would:

  • Establish one consistent national framework for recyclable, compostable, and reusable packaging claims.
  • Require businesses that choose to make these claims to back them up with independent third-party certification, giving consumers clearer, more trustworthy information while replacing conflicting state labeling requirements with a single set of federal standards.
  • Retain state and local community control over their recycling programs, solid waste management, and infrastructure investments.

This legislation has earned support from a broad coalition of American manufacturers, retailers, and industry leaders, including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Association of Manufacturers, Dow, and many others.

Earning an “A” from Moms for America

M4AA

I’m proud to have earned an “A” rating from Moms for America Action for standing up for parents, families, and the values we hold dear.

The 2026 Congressional Report Card grades lawmakers based on key votes on parental rights, education, border security, fiscal responsibility, and federal mandates.

Parents know what is best for their children, and families should have the freedom to make decisions without the federal government getting in the way. Those principles have always mattered to me, and they will continue to guide my votes in Congress.

I’m grateful to Moms for America Action for the recognition, and I’ll keep fighting for the hardworking moms, dads, and families across Texas’ 14th District.

The Future of American AI

ai

Artificial intelligence is moving fast, and now some of the very companies leading the charge are asking Congress to step in and establish rules of the road.

That raises a pretty simple question. If the companies building these powerful AI systems are concerned enough to ask Congress for guardrails, why aren’t they slowing down themselves?

Congress absolutely has a role to play, especially when it comes to protecting Americans’ privacy, cybersecurity, and our critical infrastructure. But we also need to be careful that Washington does not rush into heavy-handed regulations that tie the hands of American innovators while the technology continues moving forward.

And we cannot lose sight of who we are competing against. America cannot afford to fall behind Communist China in the AI race. We need American companies leading the world, but that leadership also comes with a responsibility to take the risks surrounding this technology seriously.

As Congress considers the path forward, we have to protect Americans, hold companies accountable, and keep America at the forefront of AI without giving China an advantage.

Around the District

The temperature may be slightly coming down but Team Weber is still bringing the heat for Texas’ 14th District!

Team Weber started off the week in Beaumont at the Mayor’s Veterans Coalition Meeting, where local leaders and organizations came together to connect veterans with valuable resources, strengthen collaboration, and ensure that those who have served our nation and worn our nation’s uniform receive the support they have rightfully earned.

We also joined the United Way of Orange County for its annual Day of Caring! This special day brought together volunteers, local businesses, and community organizations with one mission - to give back to the neighbors who make Southeast Texas such a wonderful place.

Finally, Team Weber rounded out the week in Texas City at the Texas City-La Marque Chamber of Commerce’s 2026 State of Education Luncheon, which brought together business leaders, parents, and educators from across the region to discuss the future of workforce development and education!
