Fourth of July

4th of July

This Fourth of July, you can expect to pay $76.94 for the average cookout, which is $11.48 higher than the cost of an average BBQ in 2021. If you’re planning on buying fireworks this year, those will run you 25–30% more. Not to mention ground beef, hot dogs, chicken breast, cheese, ice cream, and soft drinks are up.  Like almost every holiday recognized since President Biden took office, this Fourth of July is predicted to be the most expensive one ever for American families.

Under President Biden's watch, real disposable incomes have fallen 12%, meaning the average American household is doing far worse than it was a year ago. With high gas prices, rising food costs, and an out-of-touch administration, it's no wonder that 85% of Americans feel that the country is on the wrong track, including 8 in 10 Democrats.

The American people deserve real solutions, not empty promises from this president. He recently called for suspending the federal gas tax — a move that his own party acknowledges is dead on arrival in both chambers of Congress — but has refused to make moves that will provide long-term regulatory certainty for America's domestic energy production.

Here's one idea for the Biden administration: pass the American Energy Independence from Russia Act. This Republican-led legislation would promote domestic production by restarting oil and gas leasing on federal lands and water, which was previously halted by the Biden administration. These solutions could help drive down gas and food costs.

The American people cannot afford another year of Democrat one-party rule.

Historic Border Crisis

border accident

The horrible news that came out of San Antonio this week is a direct result of President Biden’s open border policies. This is just another example of human smugglers overrunning the crisis at our border. There is nothing compassionate about the Biden administration’s open border policy, and President Biden must stop encouraging migrants to flood across the border. It is simply unsafe, and the danger does not end once they cross the border.

Yesterday the Supreme Court said that President Biden can end "Remain in Mexico." This decision by the Supreme Court opens the door for the Biden administration to recklessly end President Trump’s Migrant Protection Protocols, or the ‘Remain in Mexico’ program. This program requires illegal immigrants who are awaiting asylum claims in the U.S. to stay in Mexico until their cases are adjudicated.

Ending the ‘Remain in Mexico’ program will only continue to incentivize a surge at our border by migrants who believe they have an open invitation to stay in the U.S. regardless of status. The Biden administration MUST end their mass release policy that endangers our communities.

    In the District

    district travel

It was a great week traveling around the district! I always love a reprieve from time spent in the Swamp to be home in the great state of Texas. I went to Brazoria County to tour the Huntsman facility. This site generates $12M in economic output annually and proudly employs 100 Texans. Thank you to the staff for showing me around the facility and giving me an update on important issues Huntsman faces. I also stopped by The Facts to see the impressive operations they have to print newspapers for readers in Brazoria County communities. This week, I also had the honor to participate in the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce's Congressional Panel Luncheon with my good friend Rep. Brian Babin! I always enjoy discussing local matters that are affecting our community. If you see me around town, please say hello! It is an honor to serve you.
