Tropical Storm Edouard brought heavy rain, flooding, damaging winds, and widespread power outages across Southeast Texas. At its peak, approximately 80,000 Entergy Texas customers were without power. Crews continue working around the clock to clear debris, repair damaged equipment, and safely restore service.
My Beautiful Bride and I are praying for every family impacted by the storm. YOUR TX-14 office remains in close contact with local, state, and federal partners to make sure our communities have the support they need. I am also incredibly grateful to the first responders, emergency officials, and crews who stepped up to help our neighbors.
If your home, business, or agricultural property sustained damage from Edouard, please report it through the Texas Division of Emergency Management’s iSTAT survey. These reports help officials identify the full extent of the damage and determine what additional assistance may be needed. Texans can also call 2-1-1 for information about shelters and other disaster-related resources.
ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE FOR 2024 HURRICANE BERYL DAMAGE:
Separate from Edouard recovery, the Texas General Land Office (GLO) currently has more than $287 million available to help eligible homeowners whose primary residences were damaged by the 2024 severe storms or Hurricane Beryl. - $244.1 million is available to repair or reconstruct owner-occupied single-family homes.
- $43.1 million is available to reimburse eligible homeowners for out-of-pocket repairs ranging from $3,000 to $75,000 for stick-built homes and $3,000 to $50,000 for manufactured homes.

This week, I was honored to receive the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Friend of the Family Award in recognition of my conservative voting record during the 119th Congress.
While I am grateful for the recognition, this award reflects the work being done to defend the faith, families, and God-given freedoms that make our nation strong. Some examples of my voting record include:
- Protecting babies who survive attempted abortions and ensuring they receive the same medical care as any other newborn child (H.R. 26).
- Defending fairness in women’s sports by keeping biological men from competing against women and girls (H.R. 734).
- Putting parents back in charge of their children’s education by giving them greater transparency and a stronger voice in the classroom (H.R. 5).
The American family is the foundation of our nation, and I will NEVER stop fighting to protect it for generations to come.

This past Wednesday, I chaired the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee’s Energy Subcommittee hearing on “Powering the Nuclear Renaissance,” where we discussed how we will secure America’s energy dominance on the next frontier.
Now is not the time to let our foreign adversaries, like Russia and China, get ahead of us in any area, especially nuclear energy. The United States already produces more nuclear power than any other country, accounting for around 30% of the world’s nuclear electricity generation. With years of American ingenuity and research behind us, we are now opening the door to the next generation of energy production, with advanced reactors capable of delivering more power, more reliably.
Under President Trump, we have seen tremendous movement toward an American nuclear renaissance. This administration set a goal of having at least three advanced reactors reach criticality before America’s 250th birthday, and let’s just say we did things the American way and surpassed that goal, with four projects reaching criticality. But there is still work to do.
We must strengthen our domestic nuclear fuel supply, cut unnecessary regulatory burdens and red tape, improve the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s licensing processes, and ensure researchers have the resources they need to move these technologies from the lab to deployment.
More nuclear energy means more power for Americans and greater energy security, which strengthens our national security. The question isn’t whether we will have a nuclear renaissance.
The question is: Is America ready to continue leading it?

On Tuesday, the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade (CMT) advanced my bipartisan Packaging and Claims Knowledge (PACK) Act of 2025 out of the Subcommittee. The PACK Act will now go before the full House Energy and Commerce Committee.
The PACK Act will create a clear federal framework for recyclable, compostable, and reusable claims featured on consumer product packaging, ultimately replacing the current patchwork of conflicting state requirements that creates confusion for consumers and makes it harder for companies to do business across state lines.
During the markup, the Subcommittee also adopted an amendment offered by my colleague and bill cosponsor, Congressman Russ Fulcher of Idaho, which would further clarify the Federal Trade Commission’s guidance and establish minimum standards for third-party certifications.
One clear framework means more certainty for American consumers and American businesses, and fewer unnecessary costs passed down to hardworking families across Texas’ 14th District. The PACK Act has earned a wide range of bipartisan support, not just from several of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, but also from American manufacturers, retailers, and organizations like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and many others.
We’re working to cut through the regulatory maze, ensure consumers are informed, and give American businesses the certainty they need to thrive.
We are now one step closer to getting the PACK Act to the President’s desk!

Driving an 80,000-pound big rig is no place for cutting corners.
This week, President Trump’s Departments of Transportation, Homeland Security, and Justice launched a major crackdown on fraud within the commercial trucking industry. Federal law requires commercial drivers to demonstrate enough English proficiency to communicate with law enforcement, understand highway signs, and respond to official questions. Yet federal investigators uncovered training providers certifying drivers who failed to meet those basic requirements.
The Department of Transportation immediately removed 110 truck-driving schools connected to more than 5,000 drivers who failed English-language proficiency tests and moved to remove more than 160 additional schools for violations including unlicensed instructors, missing records, and inadequate training facilities. DHS also conducted inspections targeting more than 200 schools across 23 states, while the Justice Department established a new task force to investigate licensing fraud, illegal employment, and criminal activity within the industry.
Over the past year and a half, DOT has placed more than 28,000 drivers out of service for English-language violations and forced states to cancel more than 30,000 commercial licenses illegally issued to foreign drivers.
The rules of the road mean nothing if no one enforces them. Drivers certified by the schools now facing removal have been linked to 239 commercial-vehicle fatalities, and that is 239 lives too many. President Trump and his Administration are cracking down on CDL fraud, removing unqualified drivers from our highways, and putting the safety of American families FIRST.

With hurricane season upon us, I want to remind folks that Team Weber and YOUR congressional office are here to help. Rain or shine, we will continue working for you and stand ready to assist our communities when they need us most.
In Friendswood, Team Weber attended the Friendswood Chamber’s State of the District Luncheon, where community members heard the latest updates from Friendswood ISD and learned more about where the district is headed.
Our team also joined the BayTran Drainage Committee to hear from Scott Elmer, Chief of Partnerships and Programs with the Harris County Flood Control District. The discussion focused on innovative approaches to large-scale flood management, including Tokyo’s G-Cans system and the use of flood tunnels.
Finally, Team Weber finished up the week in Beaumont at the Youth Investment Initiative Roll Out, supporting efforts to invest in the young men and women who will become the next generation of Southeast Texas leaders!
Team Weber is all hands on deck across TX-14, strengthening our schools, investing in the next generation, and helping our communities prepare before the next storm hits.
