Restoring Law and Order to Our Nation’s Capital After years of surging crime and the failure of elected officials, along with law enforcement, to enforce the laws of our nation’s Capital, President Trump has stepped in to bring order to chaos. After spending significant time working and travelling around the city, it is apparent that elected Democratic officials have allowed the city to descend into utter turmoil. Law enforcement is completely hamstrung in its efforts to arrest criminals due to fear of reprisals from the city administrators, while the city's attorneys fail to remove dangerous criminals from the streets, a sad fact in many of our cities around the country. In 2024, the City of Boston experienced a total of twenty-four murders. From January 1 to March 1, 2025, Washington, D.C., a slightly larger city than Boston, exceeded twenty-four murders. As of August, your nation’s capital has experienced in total, ninety-nine murders. Therefore, Washington, D.C. has the fourth largest homicide rate in the United States, six times higher than New York City, a city twelve times larger than Washington, D.C. Let that sink in. Not to mention the rampant vehicle theft, which is over three times the national average, ranking it among the most dangerous cities globally. On August 11, 2025, in response to the total failure of Washington, D.C.’s elected officials, President Trump enacted Section 740 of the Home Rule Act. Section 740 of the Home Rule Act allows the President to temporarily use the Metropolitan Police force for Federal purposes when conditions of an emergency are met. President Trump also authorized the mobilization of the District of Columbia National Guard. Make no mistake, President Trump has the authority to mobilize the District of Columbia National Guard to combat violent crime that disturbs the safety and performance of federal workers in the federal city. I believe, under the existing circumstances; President Trump’s temporary federalization of the Metropolitan Police force is necessary to bring order back to the streets of our nation’s capital.

Restoring Law and Order to Our Nation’s Capital

DC SAFE AGAIN

After years of surging crime and the failure of elected officials, along with law enforcement, to enforce the laws of our nation’s Capital, President Trump has stepped in to bring order to chaos.

One Big Beautiful Bill

One, Big, Beautiful Bill

H.R. 1 – One Big Beautiful Bill is a major win for the American People. Particularly, the One Big Beautiful is a major step in resecuring our border and enforcing our immigration law. The bill provides the necessary funding for at least one million annual removals, aiming to roll back the disastrous open border policy under the Biden Administration.

To prevent such an invasion from taking place in the future, the One Big Beautiful Bill provides funding for hundreds of miles of new border wall, water-based barriers, and pedestrian barriers. Furthermore, the bill bolsters the efforts of the Department of Justice to prevent the proliferation of illicit and deadly drugs, such as fentanyl, into our country. The bill enhances technology at the border, allowing border agents to better secure the border and see in real-time what is coming toward our borders.

In addition, the bill requires fingerprint collection and DNA tests to verify child-sponsor relationships and crack down on criminals who exploit such a vulnerable population. The One Big Beautiful Bill is just the first step in approaching border security with common sense. For far too long, the American people have suffered under the delirious domestic policies of politicians who despise them and care little for their way of life. Under President Trump, we will return to policies that benefit Americans and punish those who seek to take advantage of our prosperity at the behest of hard-working Americans.

I will continue to push for common-sense legislation that promotes the good of all Americans and secures our borders.  I will defend the American way of life while demanding accountability of corrupt politicians who neglected our laws and security for four years.

Back to School

Back to School

As children start filling classrooms this week - school safety is on everyone's minds. In the 119th Congress thus far, I have introduced two important pieces of legislation to protect our young scholars.

H.R. 4248 – School Resource Officer Reform Act is a critical piece of legislation. If enacted, H.R. 4248 would greatly help our schools hire veterans and experienced law enforcement officers as School Resource Officers (SROs). The bill aims to amend the Internal Revenue Code to exclude the compensation of SROs from federal income tax, making it easier and more desirable for school districts to hire qualified officers to protect our children.

H. R. 3129 – Representative August Pfluger and I introduced another important bill – Police Officers Protecting Children. If made law, H.R. 3129 will allow qualified law enforcement officers and retired law enforcement officers to carry a concealed firearm in a school zone. Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT) introduced the companion bill in the U.S. Senate.

Protecting our children and securing our schools is essential. Creating an incentive for schools to hire capable and well-trained SROs, while utilizing their ability to carry a firearm, is imperative. An environment where children feel protected and secure from possible threats will allow them to focus and achieve in their studies as our future community leaders, business providers, entrepreneurs, servicemen and women, and leaders of future generations.

Survey Question of the Week

Putin

Today, President Donald Trump is meeting with President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, with the hope of bringing a permanent ceasefire to the Russo-Ukrainian War. The Presidents of both nations will meet one-on-one before including their respective delegations. It is the hope of President Trump and his team to bring a peaceful resolution to the conflict before more lives are lost. However, President Putin remains committed to the previous conditions he put forth to bring an end to the bloody conflict.

Around the District

08/15/2025

This week, Team Weber crisscrossed TX-14 to celebrate milestones, honor service, and meet with the leaders who keep our maritime industry and communities thriving.

In League City, we celebrated with newly elected American Legion Post 554 Commander Luis Garcia, who shared his vision for deeper community engagement and making the Post a Red Cross headquarters for Galveston County. At Port Freeport, we cut the ribbon on a new gate that will ease congestion by giving large trucks direct access to the port.

We also surprised Jay Coppock with a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition for 10 years of leadership at SERVE, a vital organization supporting our veterans.

Over the last few days, Team Weber visited all seven ports in TX-14: Galveston–Texas City Pilots, Port of Galveston, Port Freeport, Port of Beaumont, Port of Sabine Pass, Port of Port Arthur, and Port of Orange. Our ports are vital gateways for our economy and energy sector, and TX-14 is proud to host more ports than any other Congressional district in the nation.

We wrapped up at the Port of Galveston’s Strategic Master Plan Open House, as the Port celebrates its 200th anniversary and looks to an even stronger future.
