The Department of the Interior just announced a record-breaking return of energy revenues, and let me tell you, Southeast Texas is seeing it firsthand.
Because of offshore production in the Gulf of America and the changes made through the One Big Beautiful Bill, which was signed into law on July 4, 2025, more than $6.3 MILLION is coming straight back to communities in Texas’ 14th Congressional District:
- Brazoria County: $1,671,607.77
- Galveston County: $2,192,768.03
- Jefferson County: $1,650,137.43
- Orange County: $818,125.23
- Total: $6,332,638.46
And that is just our district.
In total, the Department of the Interior is distributing a record $460.9 million to Gulf energy-producing states and their coastal communities. This is the largest disbursement ever, made possible by the One Big Beautiful Bill, which raised the cap and ensured more offshore energy revenues are returned to the states and communities that make it all possible.
Here’s what that means. We are expanding American energy production while also investing in the coastal infrastructure, restoration efforts, and local economies that keep it strong for the long haul.
And in TX-14, that hits home. Our district helps power this country every single day. Now, thanks to this revenue-sharing model, the communities doing that work are finally seeing those dollars come back where they belong.
That is how you build real American energy dominance. You produce it here, you support it here, and you reinvest right back into the people and places that make it possible!

If America wants to lead, we have to be dominant in energy and that starts with investing in the infrastructure that makes it all possible.
That’s why on Wednesday, I testified before the House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee to advocate for funds to be included in the Fisical Year 2027 Appropriations Cycle for the ports and waterways that keep Southeast Texas and this nation running. From our district that powers America, what we do here doesn’t just matter locally, it drives the entire U.S. economy.
We cannot afford TX-14th to stand still, and we cannot fall behind. I highlighted key projects that are keeping Texas and America at the forefront of energy production and economic growth:
- Galveston Ship Channel supports over 10,000 deep-draft vessels each year and stands as the busiest entrance channel in the United States.
- Coastal Texas Project will protect nearly 30% of the nation’s refining capacity and 42% of its chemical feedstock, safeguarding critical energy infrastructure.
- Sabine-Neches Waterway, the second largest in the Gulf of America, moves 194 million tons of cargo annually, with projections exceeding 210 million
As global demand rises, America cannot sit back and watch. China is ramping up production. Russia is pushing LNG. Meanwhile, right here in Southeast Texas, we are building, expanding, and leading. When we invest in our ports, our waterways, and our energy systems, we win, America wins and the world wins.
The future of Texas’ 14th Congressional District is strong, it’s growing, and it’s helping power America and the world. I’ll keep fighting to make sure our communities and coastal infrastructure have the funding they need to lead on the global stage.

Congress is once again looking at using the budget reconciliation process to move major priorities forward, this time with a focus on permitting reform to speed up energy and infrastructure projects across the country, the SAVE America Act, and funds to protect our homeland.
That might sound procedural (and it is) but let me tell you, reconciliation is one of the most powerful tools Congress has. It allows legislation to pass the Senate with only 51 votes.
We’ve already seen exactly what this process can deliver. Through reconciliation last summer, Congress passed the One Big Beautiful Bill, and the results are real for hardworking families:
- Nearly $4,000 in total tax savings for 2026.
- Over $10,000 more in annual take-home pay for typical working families.
- A permanently higher standard deduction used by nearly 90% of taxpayers.
- No tax on tips, overtime, or Social Security, letting folks keep more of what they earn.
- $2,200 Child Tax Credit to support families raising the next generation.
- 20% small business deduction was made permanent to fuel growth and job creation.
- Up to 7.2 million jobs protected or created nationwide
Now, we have an opportunity to build on that success.

Kennedy, 1962 These words from President Kennedy ring truer than ever today as NASA moves forward with a $20 billion plan to establish a base on the Moon.
I still remember watching, 57 years ago, as astronauts first set foot on the lunar surface. Today, as a proud Southeast Texan representing a district that employs thousands of folks connected to NASA and serves as a hub for space innovation, I could not be more inspired by how far we’ve come.
This is America doing what we do best, leading from the front. We’ve dominated land, air, and sea, and now we’re setting our sights on space.
As a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I know how important it is that we stay in the winner’s circle when it comes to innovation. This plan puts us right where we need to be.
NASA is approaching this mission in three phases:
- Phase One: Robotic testing to develop power systems and communications.
- Phase Two: Building early infrastructure to support regular astronaut visits, alongside partners like Canada and Italy.
- Phase Three: Establishing a sustained human presence with large-scale habitats and vehicles on the Moon.
From engineers and technicians that develop the spacesuits and rockets, to mission control that supports the crew, to the small businesses that support the supply chain, this investment is creating real opportunities for Texas families. It means jobs, growth, and a stronger future right here at home. This is about more than planting a flag. It’s about planting roots and making sure America keeps leading.

The flowers are blooming here on the Texas Gulf Coast!
This week, Team Weber attended the Texas City–La Marque Chamber of Commerce State of the Cities event and saw a firsthand look at the momentum building in both communities. Texas City remains a powerhouse industrial base for our district, and together with La Marque, they are moving full speed ahead.
In DC, I also took time to address a serious issue that hits far too close to home as Houston remains one of the largest hubs for human trafficking in the country. I met with Unbound Now, an organization on the front lines fighting to end human trafficking and support survivors. This is an issue I have worked on since my time in the Texas State Legislature, and I was proud to help co-sponsor the Human Trafficking Prevention, Intervention, and Recovery Act twelve years ago. There is more work to be done, and I remain committed to helping reunite families and restore lives, one survivor at a time.
And while we fight for our communities, we are also keeping the TX-14 economy firing on all cylinders. On Thursday, I was honored to receive the Small Business Champion pennant recognizing my support for last year’s reconciliation bill. That legislation helped deliver over 4,500 jobs right here in our district and a $219 million boost to our local GDP!
