This week in Port Arthur, Entergy broke ground on the Legend Power Station. This natural gas plant will bring more than 700 megawatts of reliable power onto the Texas grid, the kind of power you can count on when demand is high and the heat is on.
Here’s what that means for our region:
- 754 MW at the Legend station in Port Arthur;
- Nearly $1.6 billion invested right here in TX-14;
- And built for a region that produces 27% of U.S. gasoline, 35% of natural gas, 60% of jet fuel, and 80% of military-grade fuel.
Texas runs on its own grid, but what we produce here doesn’t stay here. When Southeast Texas energy slows down, the rest of the country feels it. The Department of Energy warned outages could increase up to 100x by 2030 if reliable power keeps going offline, while demand here in Texas keeps climbing.
Back in July, that was one of the many reasons I voted for the One Big Beautiful Bill. It backs reliable, always-available power like what’s being built in Port Arthur and removes the policies that have put it at a disadvantage.
Looking forward to seeing this project come online and deliver for Southeast Texas!

Wins for hardworking Americans just keep coming!
Last year, Congressional Republicans passed the Working Families Tax Cuts Act (also known as the One Big Beautiful Bill), delivering some of the largest tax cuts in a generation and putting more money back where it belongs, in your pocket. And now, as folks across Southeast Texas sit down to file their taxes, those results are starting to show.
What we’re seeing this tax season:
And one of the biggest improvements this year: No Tax on Tips.
For the first time, tipped workers can deduct up to $25,000 in qualified tips from their 2025 earnings, resulting in a lower tax bill or a bigger refund this filing season.
That includes folks right here in our community:
- Restaurant and hospitality workers;
- Hairdressers, barbers, and personal care professionals;
- Rideshare, delivery, and transportation workers;
- Tourism, entertainment, and event staff;
- And in-home service providers like cleaners, movers, and childcare workers.
This tax season means more money staying in your pocket, more breathing room for families, and a little more certainty as you plan.
As a reminder, the tax filing deadline is April 15th, 2026.

When Christopher from Galveston County reached out to us, he had already been through years of back-and-forth with the Department of Veterans Affairs trying to secure the benefits he earned after more than 30 years of service in uniform.
At one point, he turned to a third-party attorney for help. That attorney charged him a significant portion of his back pay but provided little to no meaningful work on his case.
Christopher was left fighting not just for his benefits, but for his money back.
That’s when YOUR Texas 14th Congressional office stepped in and worked directly with the VA’s Office of General Counsel to review the situation. After reviewing the record, the VA determined the attorney did not provide any significant or impactful services and ruled the fee at 0%, meaning none of Christopher’s benefits should have gone to that attorney.
That decision requires more than $80,000 in fees to be returned to Christopher!
Unfortunately, cases like this are more common than they should be. The federal government can be difficult to navigate, and that’s where your office comes in.
If you’re dealing with a federal agency and not getting answers, don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help cut through the red tape.

The Easter Bunny isn’t the only one on the move this time of year. Team Weber has been hopping into action across Texas’ 14th Congressional District!
This week, we joined leaders in Port Arthur for the groundbreaking of a new power station. As Texas continues to grow, so does the demand for reliable energy. Projects like this are critical to keeping up with that growth, supporting our expanding population, and powering the businesses and industries that drive Southeast Texas forward.
We wrapped up the week at Walking the Runway for Autism in Lake Jackson. April is Autism Awareness Month, and this meaningful event highlighted incredible children and families while supporting pediatric therapy and habilitation services.
