$50 Million Investment for the Greater Southeast Texas Grid This week, I joined CenterPoint Energy and Department of Energy Assistant Secretary Katie Jereza in Houston to announce that DOE has selected CenterPoint for $50 million toward Project TALON. It’s part of a $176.7 million project to improve how power moves across the Greater Houston grid. As vice chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Energy Subcommittee, I’ve pushed for investments that expand grid capacity and make service more reliable, and this is exactly the kind of project I want to see move forward. CenterPoint will be among the first utilities in the country to use this new Siemens Energy technology. Think about a hot Texas afternoon when air conditioners across Southeast Texas are running at full blast. The equipment will help CenterPoint’s grid respond quickly to that surge in demand, keep power steadier, and carry more electricity when people need it most. It's a much-needed upgrade for a utility serving 2.9 million electric customers in a region that keeps growing. And putting the equipment in place is expected to create more than 500 local jobs! I often make the point that we produce an enormous amount of energy in Texas’ 14th Congressional District, but producing it is only part of the job. Families, businesses, ports, and plants need a grid that can carry power to them and keep it dependable. This investment will give CenterPoint’s crews another tool to do just that. $50 Million Investment for the Greater Southeast Texas Grid

This week, I joined CenterPoint Energy and Department of Energy Assistant Secretary Katie Jereza in Houston to announce that DOE has selected CenterPoint for $50 million toward Project TALON. Cyberattack on Oil Tanker Heading to Galveston

Oil Tanker

Last month, the Coast Guard and FBI boarded the VL Prosperity, an oil tanker traveling from Egypt to Galveston, after signs that hackers may have compromised the ship’s network. Federal teams examined its computer systems and the systems used to operate the vessel. Officials reported no disruption to the ship, danger to its crew, or environmental damage. They have not publicly identified who was responsible.

My office has been in regular communication with the Coast Guard about the investigation, and I have also requested more information from the House Committee on Homeland Security. Coast Guard officials will provide us with a briefing, and I expect to have more details to share with you in the coming weeks.

Ships headed for the Texas Gulf Coast carry cargo that our communities and the country depend on. We need to know what happened aboard this tanker, how its systems were affected, and what it could mean for the safety of vessels headed to our ports.

I’ll keep pressing for answers. Stay tuned to my social media pages for timely updates as we learn more.

American Energy Alliance’s 2026 Energy Scorecard

The American Energy Alliance’s 2026 American Energy Scorecard

I am honored to have earned the title of American Energy Champion for the 119th Congress with a 100% score on the American Energy Alliance’s (AEA) 2026 American Energy Scorecard.

The scorecard evaluated 19 votes on affordable, reliable energy, American energy production, permitting reform, and Congress’s role in energy markets. On all 19, I supported policies the AEA identified as advancing its pro-energy principles.

The votes included legislation such as:

  • H.R.1949 - Unlocking our Domestic LNG Potential Act of 2025
  • H.R.2988 - Protecting Prudent Investment of Retirement Savings Act
  • H.R.3898 - PERMIT Act
  • H.J.Res.140 - Providing for congressional disapproval of the Bureau of Land Management public land order prohibiting mining in the Superior National Forest.

The communities I represent in Texas’ 14th District know how much our country depends on American energy. It keeps our businesses growing and America competitive on the world stage.

I’ve always said America should never have to beg another country for the energy we can produce bigger, better, and stronger right here at home. We have the workers. We have the resources. We have the power.

I’m proud to have earned a 100% score, but the work is far from finished. We must unleash all forms of American energy, cut Washington red tape, and keep building, producing, and innovating right here in the United States.

I’ll keep fighting every single day to make sure America remains the energy powerhouse of the world!

One Nation. One Constitution. One Law.

Sharia

There is ONE supreme law of this land, and it is the United States Constitution.

That is why I joined Congressman Keith Self in introducing H.Con.Res. 116, which denounces the implementation of Sharia law in the United States. Our Constitution guarantees equal protection, due process, religious liberty, and individual freedom. No competing legal or political system gets to take its place.

You are free to worship as you choose in this country. That freedom is protected by the very Constitution we are fighting to defend. But our government and courts answer to ONE Constitution and ONE set of American laws, NEVER Sharia.

I fought this battle years ago in the Texas Legislature, where I worked to prevent foreign legal systems from taking precedence over Texas law. I am not about to change my tune now. There will be no separate system of justice, no foreign legal doctrine placed above our Constitution, and no surrender of the God-given freedoms generations of Americans have fought and died to defend. Not in Texas. Not anywhere in these United States.

One Constitution. One Nation. One Law.

Around the District

Around the District

As we close another busy week, Team Weber has been making the rounds across Texas’ 14th District, meeting with the people who serve our communities and keep them moving.

We started the week in Port Arthur at the Port Arthur Chamber First Responders & Veterans Appreciation Luncheon. Our first responders and veterans have done so much to keep our communities and country safe. Every day, they deserve our thanks and our continued support.

Next up, Team Weber attended the Northern Brazoria County Chamber Employment Engagement & Experience Workshop. Led by Sonya Atkins of HumanEdge Resource Solutions, the workshop focused on strengthening employee engagement, supporting workplace well-being, and building a positive company culture.

Finally, in Beaumont, Team Weber attended the SETX Veteran Stand Down event, which served veterans experiencing homelessness, their families, and others in need. It was a chance to help those who have worn our nation’s uniform access the care and opportunities they have earned.

I’m grateful to everyone who brought these events together. Team Weber will keep showing up for the people who serve our communities and the people working to strengthen them!
