Randy's Wrap-Up USPS  Today, I held a press conference at the Missouri City Post Office to discuss ongoing mail delays negatively impacting Southeast Texas. As many of you know, mail delays have been getting worse since the holidays, many of your packages have been delayed, and medication has been stuck. It is unacceptable that the United States Post Office neglects its duty to serve American citizens in a timely manner. I held a press conference to demand answers from the USPS and ensure they work overtime to guarantee that folks receive their packages. As a Representative of the United States, I have the ability to communicate with federal agencies on your behalf. YOUR staff (because we don’t forget that we work for YOU) reached out to the USPS government liaison to set up a meeting to discuss the ongoing problems and concerns.YOUR staff asked questions regarding the state of the facility and asked for an update. We were told the reasons for the delays were because of their 10-year “Delivering for America” plan to modernize postal infrastructure. YOUR staff was told the delays were the result of their plan to switch the Missouri City facility to a processing center while the North Houston Processing and Distribution Center became a regional processing center. We were reassured that they were getting through the volume of mail and would get through the volume by January 22nd. But that wasn’t reality.I have gotten the run-around from the Postal Service time and time again. They seem to stonewall many Representatives. Accountability needs to be had for the USPS. I will continue to work on the issue to get answers and ensure this doesn’t continue to plague our community.

Border Crisis

play button

This week, the House Committee on Homeland Security, under the leadership of Chairman Mark Green (R-TN), voted to advance two articles of impeachment against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for willfully and systemically refusing to comply with federal immigration laws and breach of the public trust. I look forward to voting in the next few weeks to impeach Sec. Mayorkas. Under oath, he has claimed that the border is secure and that we have operational control of the southern border. The drug cartels have operational control of the southern border, not the United States.

These articles follow a nearly year-long investigation by the House Committee on Homeland Security into the causes, costs, and consequences of this historic border crisis. The House Republicans on the House Committee on Homeland Security concluded that DHS Secretary Mayorkas is "chiefly responsible for the chaos and devastation that has unfolded over the past three years" at America's borders and fully supports his impeachment.

This week, I joined my House Republican colleagues at a press conference to stand with Governor Abbott and the great State of Texas as we continue to exercise sovereignty. I believe a lot of people forget that the federal government didn't create the states, but instead, the states created the federal government. Gov. Abbott is well within his rights to protect our border and our communities. Joe Biden continues his efforts to stop Gov. Abbott from securing the southern border. It is crystal clear that Joe Biden doesn't want to secure the border. We need to enforce the laws on the books, reinstate Remain in Mexico, end catch and release, and build the wall.

Around the District

This week, Team Weber met with the Acting Director of the Small Business Administration, Mark Winchester, to discuss the various projects and loans they offer to constituents in Southeast Texas. Please contact one of YOUR district offices (we work for you) if you need assistance with the Small Business Administration. Yesterday, they toured the UTMB Life Science building. They spoke with Dr. Vineet Gupta, VP for Innovation, Technology Development and Transfer, and Dr. Randy Urban, Vice President, and Chief Research Officer, Vice Dean of Clinical Research in the School of Medicine, about the projects they are working on. They are doing great work! Team Weber also attended the Clear Lake Chamber of Commerce and League City Chamber of Commerce monthly meetings with speakers Judge Mark Henry and Debbie Korth Orion, Deputy Program Manager for NASA, who gave us an update on the Orion Program.
