Port Freeport Welcomes a Major Investment

Mitsubishi

The Texas Gulf Coast and the great Lone Star State continue to prove why they are economic powerhouses of our great country. Recently, Mitsubishi Motors North America announced it has selected Port Freeport as a new vehicle gateway! Investments like these strengthen supply chains, create jobs, and reinforce Port Freeport’s position as a hub for commerce along the Texas Gulf Coast.

Americans watched for years under the Biden administration as jobs, factories, and critical industries moved overseas, leaving our nation increasingly dependent on foreign countries for the goods and resources we need. Today, we are seeing a different story unfold as President Trump is bringing America back to the Golden Age.

These efforts have encouraged companies to manufacture products here at home rather than overseas, and the numbers back it up. Texas is now the ninth-largest economy in the world, with low business taxes and no personal income tax. Around 150 companies have announced plans to relocate or expand in Texas, and 10 Fortune 500 companies have moved their headquarters to the Lone Star State in the last six years. Nationwide, companies have also announced more than $1 trillion in planned investments across manufacturing, technology, energy, semiconductors, infrastructure, and logistics since 2025.

Recent Investments and Expansions in Texas:

  • Mitsubishi Motors North America expanded automotive logistics operations through Port Freeport.
  • Toyota announced a $3.6 billion expansion of its San Antonio manufacturing facility, creating approximately 2,000 new jobs and bringing additional vehicle production to Texas.
  • Chevron relocated its corporate headquarters to Houston, further strengthening Texas as the energy capital of the world.

As more companies choose to invest in Texas and the United States, I remain committed to supporting policies that promote American manufacturing, strengthen our supply chains, and ensure the next generation inherits an economy that is stronger, more secure, and more competitive than ever before!

One Year of the One Big Beautiful Bill!

OBBB

Folks, one year ago Congressional Republicans and President Trump fulfilled the promises we were sent to Washington to secure through the One Big Beautiful Bill (also known as the Working Families Tax Cut Act).

As a proud supporter of this bill, I knew that the goal was clear: we must put hardworking Americans first, strengthen our economy, secure our border, and unleash American energy to make our country dominant once again.

Today, and every day since its passage, the results speak for themselves. Across Texas' 14th District and throughout the nation, provisions like Trump Accounts, an expanded Child Tax Credit, No Tax on Tips, No Tax on Overtime, and funding for ICE to secure our border are helping families keep more of their hard-earned paychecks while strengthening our nation's security. Businesses are investing in America again, job creators have greater certainty to expand and hire, and our country is continuing to move toward energy dominance.

Here on the Texas Gulf Coast, that means more opportunities for our workers, stronger ports, thriving manufacturers, and continued investment in the industries that keep America running.

So let’s break down some of the real wins secured for YOU:

  • Made the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act permanent.
  • Delivered tax relief to 97% of Americans.
  • Saved taxpayers $185 billion by rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in federal health programs and reversing costly Obamacare-era spending.
  • Invested $165 billion in the Department of Homeland Security and ICE to secure our border and combat illegal immigration.
  • Unleashed American energy production while eliminating nearly $1.5 trillion in wasteful Green New Deal-style spending.
  • Provided seniors with a $6,000 bonus tax deduction.
  • Expanded tax relief for working Americans through No Tax on Tips and No Tax on Overtime provisions.

The One Big Beautiful Bill also reinforced our commitment to fiscal responsibility while protecting the values that make this country the greatest nation on God's green earth. This legislation prioritized American workers, American families, and American energy over burdensome regulations and bureaucracy.

While there is still work to be done, the progress we have made over the last year proves what happens when we put America first. We are winning not just on jobs, taxes, and energy, but across the board. Under President Trump's leadership with continued conservative ideals and goals, America is stronger, safer, more prosperous, and more respected around the world.

Ending the Abuse of Birthright Citizenship

Birth Packages

American citizenship is one of the greatest privileges in the world. It should never be treated as a commodity to be bought, sold, or exploited through loopholes in our Constitution.

Last week, Mission Regional Medical Center in South Texas came under scrutiny after advertisements surfaced promoting "Birth Packages in South Texas" starting at just $3,950. The hospital reportedly marketed these packages to foreign nationals, raising serious concerns that our healthcare system was being used to facilitate birth tourism. In response, Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Health and Human Services Commission to immediately investigate the hospital and refer any violations of state law for civil or criminal enforcement.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. Just weeks earlier, investigative reporting uncovered a birth tourism operation in Houston that catered to Chinese nationals and helped facilitate the births of more than 1,000 babies whose parents sought to exploit the Fourteenth Amendment.

The Fourteenth Amendment was ratified after the Civil War to guarantee citizenship for formerly enslaved Americans. It was never intended to create an industry that profits from marketing American citizenship through "birth packages," AKA birth tourism.

President Trump has been clear, "American citizenship is not for sale." I couldn't agree more. We must continue securing our border, closing loopholes that incentivize illegal immigration, and protecting the integrity of American citizenship for future generations. Texas is leading the way, and I will continue fighting in Congress to ensure our nation's citizenship laws reflect their original intent.

Around the District

Around the District

It’s not getting any cooler down here in Texas’ 14th District, but Team Weber is keeping their cool and getting work done for YOU!

Team Weber started the week in Port Arthur at the grand opening of Port Arthur Fire Station No. 3. As a longtime supporter of our first responders and those who put their lives on the line to keep our communities safe, we were proud to celebrate this milestone. This new facility will help ensure our firefighters have the resources they need to protect the people of Port Arthur.

Later in the week, Team Weber visited the Brazoria County Chamber of Commerce to hear updates from local businesses and meet with community leaders about economic development and workforce growth. Small businesses are the backbone of Texas' 14th District, and supporting them remains a top priority.

Team Weber wrapped up the week at Del Papa Distributing Company's Better Business Bureau Seal Reveal celebration. For generations, Del Papa has been a pillar of Southeast Texas, and it was an honor to recognize its commitment to integrity, outstanding customer service, and doing business the right way.

Whether supporting our first responders, meeting with local businesses, or connecting with community leaders across the district, Team Weber remains committed to serving the hardworking men and women of Texas' 14th District. No matter how hot it gets outside, we'll keep showing up.
